Sorry about the lack of posts for the last little while. Our person in Almaty isn't as available for driving as our ones in Kyzylorda. Too add insult to injury we aren't sure when we will be able to post again either. Oh well c'est la vie.
To get to the good stuff...our flight to Almaty was good. Dinara fussed for a little while (mostly because she couldn't walk around). I got to sit with her in the front row, while Andrew was behind and on the other side. That's what we get for getting to the airport late (not our fault might I add). I sat by a very tall man from Arizona, and he looked like he was related to me. I mean take my dad and make him a little slimmer and there you go. I almost asked him if he had any relatives in northern Alberta, but he fell asleep. He did let Andrew sit with me while we ate so that I could get a break and have my lunch. I didn't really eat too much of it. I wasn't in the mood for the cold horse cutlets. They do taste good but it wasn't what I wanted. Dinara ate all her lunch very well (a jar of baby food) and then slept for the rest of the flight. When we were deplaneing (spelling) we waited for all the other to get off the plane first. We then gathered our stuff and found that the bus to take us to the terminal had left without us. We were then ushered back on the plane as it was raining and we had a baby with us. A gentleman came and apologized profusly and then started yelling at the stewardess in Russian. He just kept saying sorry over and over. It wasn't that big a deal as we didn't have a connection to make. We then got our bags and were whisked to our apartment. It is small but cozy. The first thing we did was clean the bathrooms with the antibacterial wipes I brought from Canada. Boy am I glad I brought those. The air here is much better but the city is much busier. Our girl is still a delight every day.
Oh a piece of news...Dinara has taken her first steps on her own!!! She is up to 7 without having anyone holding her. I think by the time we return to Canada she will be a full fledged walker. Look out Dunkelzahn! Well I have to be going. The person who drives us is the daughter of our coordinator and is on a schedule. We only really get driven if it fits into her schedule. Oh well. I'll try and get to post tomorrow but no promises. We are doing great so no worries there. My allergies are in full force as all the trees here seem to be poplar and the fluff is everywhere. Again oh well. Missing you all. Thanks for the comments and keep them coming. Sorry about the lack of pictures today...I'll try and post some next time.

Nana posting today; we are nearing the end of our time in Germany. We have so enjoyed staying in the lovely house of Diet´s former girl friend, Erica and her fine husband Piet. We take the train to Koln this afternoon and then to Paris tomorrow to meet up with Joe and Lee. We are unsure of our internet connections after we leave here as we are using Piet´s laptop. We are so glad to hear that Dinara´s first plane ride with you was so easy. We have been showing all the pictures on the notebook to all Diet´s friends and relatives. They all agree that Dinara is very cute and say oh´s and ah´s a lot. We are so happy that you have arrived in a larger apt. for all 3 of you. Hopefully the ability to shop and cook will go well. Thanks for feeding our blog addiction! I cannot believe how fast it has dominated our day! Hopefully when you are home this idea will continue for all of us that do not live in S´toon. SO VERY MUCH LOVE IS BEING SENT TO ALL OF YOU(I CANNOT TURN OFF CAPS!) LOVE NANA AND OPA
Darn, she beat me!!
Dinara is walking - how cool! You are gonna have an interesting summer for sure. She will have so much to explore. Sounds like the travel was frustrating in part, but Dinara performed like she should have so that is wonderful. You guys take care and enjoy your new space for a few days before you really start for home.
Larry and Jen are coming home today to help us celebrate our 40th anniversary, and then Mother's Day. I am really anxious to see them and we will have a good family time. Hopefully the nice weather will continue. We are in the midst of staining the deck and planters and stuff. Miss you guys, be safe, lots of love.
Hello lovely Pearson family of Three!
Glad to hear that the transition went smoothly, and that little Dinara was so accepting of new things! I must admit, I was a little ehm, perturbed at your mention of being served horse, but must be accepting of other cultures....!
Sorry to hear about your allergies, Miss Nadine!
I got hit full-throttle yesterday afternoon by a fever, a closed throat, and the sniffles. Leave it to a virus to hunt you down when it's +25 outside, eh? Oh, nature, I loathe thee.
Other than that, nothing new here...the university doesn't want to let me graduate, but that's a long and tedious story, and hopefully will be rectified in a few weeks so I'll never have to speak of it again!
Great big cuddles to you, Andrew, and your little girl!
Lots of Love,
Aris :)
ya really, humph no blog for 2 days. i mean really we really look forward to it every day. i have no idea what we will do when you are home. you will have to keep it up and ween us off slowley. lol

Sooo GLAD to hear you are in Almaty now. That's one step closer to HOME! Am sorry to hear your helper is not too great. No tips then. Good to hear our Little One was ok with the plane ride. And just think, you can do the cooking now, No Horse!!
The retirement was today, my chance to show all the visiting teachers my pics. I was then asked when they would get to meet her. If you will be bringing her to the school before the end of this school year. Laura looked at the pics and water formed in her eyes, Betty 's comment was," What a Cutie!!" Suzanne's, " She is Sooo sweet and there's a touch of Asian I like it!"
Sorry I didn't comment sooner, but the internet at school is on off on off or is it up down, up down? Which ever way it's said I could not get through.
So I think this is long enough. One step closer my loves, one step closer. Prayer and all good vibes going your way, Mom & Da(d).
